INLAYS / ONLAYS

Our restorative dentist at Dentistry of South Florida will suggest an inlay or an onlay. If more than half of the occlusal (biting) surface of a posterior tooth has decayed or fractured, an onlay or inlay may be placed in order to repair damage to the tooth’s biting surface, rather than using a simple filling, or a crown. They can be made of porcelain or gold and are fabricated in a dental lab, and then permanently cemented in by your dentist.

Porcelain inlays and onlays are an excellent, conservative solution to cavity pain, reduced chewing strength, and general degeneration of back teeth. Virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth, inlays and onlays discreetly restore teeth to an optimal state of health. They resemble natural teeth so closely that only you will know the truth.
