DENTAL CLEANINGS

A big part of maintaining your oral health is having regular dental visits. Here at Dentistry of South Florida, when our dental hygienist cleans your teeth, she is removing soft (plaque) and hard (tarter, calculus, or stains) deposits from your teeth. During your appointment, she will check your teeth and gums for evidence of decay or disease. She will screen you for oral cancer, update your medical history, and provide fluoride treatments as necessary.

The primary purpose for having your teeth cleaned is to prevent or delay the progression of periodontal disease. Professional dental care alone, however, is inadequate to prevent periodontal diseases and tooth decay. Maintaining good oral hygiene at home, eating a healthy diet, abstaining from tobacco use and having your teeth cleaned professionally are the most effective ways to prevent periodontal disease.

Our hygienist will also provide instructions for you to facilitate better home care. We accomplish all of this in a friendly and comfortable environment! So keep your teeth and gums strong and disease-free. Contact our office today to schedule a professional dental cleaning.

As with routine dental exams, the frequency of professional teeth cleaning will depend on the health of your teeth and gums. Dr. Berkovich and her dental hygienist will help determine how often you should have your teeth cleaned. If you need a professional dental cleaning or have any questions, please contact our office today.
